In the application shown above,
rather than using steel or aluminum cylindrical tanks, the goal
was to increase fuel capacity, decrease the projection of the
tank from the side of the tractor, and decrease the weight of
the overall part. This was achieved by utilizing all of the
available space on this section of the tractor.
As you can see in the picture to the left, the resulting shape
would be impossible to create economically in metal. The rotationally
molded part is lighter in weight (better fuel economy), corrosion
resistant (no rust flakes or residue to clog fuel injectors),
and actually becomes an integral part of the cab step assembly.
These tanks are seamless, dent resistant, and no finishing is
required.
